Result Filters

The Result Filters let you block or promote items that appear in the recommendation result. It is optional to include Result Filters.

Filtering recommended items can be useful, especially on the POS, combined with Display Rules.

For example, you may only want to recommend items from a product group with high-margin items. Or it is known that it takes more time to carry out the sales on the POS for items in certain item categories, and this mkaes it more likely that the sales staff can engage in a meaningful conversation with the customer. In this case you might want to use Display Rules to trigger recommendation for these items, and use filtering to recommend high-margin items.

LS Recommend lets you control the filters via Result Filters. These filters are selected based on item hierarchy. You can see the Result Filters by clicking the Result Filters action on the Models page.

When you have selected filter parameters on the Result Filter card, you activate the rule in Azure by clicking the Enable action. If the rule is active, you can disabled it in Azure with the Disable action.

There are two types of Result Filters:

  • Block List: Items that belong to the catalog and have an active Block List result filter will not appear in the recommendation result.
  • White List: Items that belong to the catalog and have an active White List result filter are the only items that will appear in the recommendation result.

Note: Block List filters overwrite White List filters. This means that if an item belongs to active white and block list filters, the item will be blocked from the recommendation result.

To create a result filter

Result Filters are created for each model.

  1. Go to Models, and click Result Filters to create a new filter.
  2. Starting with an empty card, click the New action, select the filter type, and enter a descriptive name for the result filter.
  3. Continue to fill out the card by selecting the field values as explained below.

Result filter parameters

The parameter values for each filter can be viewed by clicking View in the Result Filters list.

If time is selected in the validation period, a result filters will ignore it. If no validation period is selected, then a result filter is considered to have no time limit.

The Lines FastTab has the following fields:

  • Type: Can be Item, Product Group, Item Category, or Division.
  • Value: Is the Item No., Product Group Code, Item Category Code, or Division Code, depending on the value of Type.
  • Description: Is the record description, depending on the value of Type.
  • Exclude: Indicates if the items that are defined by the item hierarchy value selected by Type are excluded from the filter and can appear in the recommendation result.

These lines define which items appear in the recommendation. If Filter Type is set to Block List, then lines where the Exclude check box is clear indicate which items are blocked from the result, whereas lines that have a selected Exclude check box indicate that the items are excluded from the block and can appear in the result.
If Filter Type is set to White List, then lines where the Exclude check box is clear indicate which items are included in the result, whereas lines where the Exclude check box is seleceted indicate that the items are excluded from the result. If an item is also in an active Block List filter, then the item is blocked from the recommendation result.
